Privacy Policy
- You can use almost all of WhosMyRep.org without giving us any personal information.
- If you subscribe, we collect your email address and, only if you provide it, your ZIP code, so we can send the newsletter or district edition you asked for.
- We never sell, rent, or trade personal information, and we do not share it with campaigns, parties, PACs, or advertisers.
- Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
Who we are
WhosMyRep.org is published by WhosMyRep, LLC, a Texas limited liability company based in Austin. We are an independent civic-information project. We are not affiliated with Congress, any campaign, party, or government agency, and we accept no outside funding. Questions about this policy go to privacy@whosmyrep.org.
What we collect and why

We do not collect Social Security numbers, payment card numbers, financial account details, health information, or government identification numbers. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, and the site is not directed at them.
Double opt-in
Nothing counts until you confirm. When you submit an email address, we send one confirmation message. If you do not click the link within seven days, the address stays inactive and is never emailed again. A poll vote is only recorded once the address is confirmed.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of service providers to run the site. Each processes data only on our instructions and under its own security and privacy commitments.

To prepare each day's district editions, working copies of the subscriber list are also kept on encrypted company computers used only by the people who run the project.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights or safety of our readers or ourselves, or as part of a merger or reorganization of the project, in which case this policy would continue to apply.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We do not share subscriber lists with campaigns, political parties, PACs, advocacy groups, data brokers, or advertisers. We do not use your email address for anything other than the emails you signed up for and occasional notices about the project itself.
Cookies and tracking
WhosMyRep.org does not use advertising cookies of its own. Two things run in your browser:
- Our own visit counter. A small script records the page, the referring page, and a random daily identifier so we can count visits. It sets no cookie and cannot recognize you from one day to the next.
- Google Ads conversion tag. We occasionally run ads. The Google tag lets Google tell us whether an ad led to a signup. Google may set cookies for this purpose under Google's privacy policy. You can opt out at adssettings.google.com or with a browser extension that blocks tags.
Your browser's "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal is honored for our own counter, which is already anonymous. We cannot control how Google responds to those signals.
Public information about members of Congress and candidates
The site displays public posts, votes, campaign-finance filings, and other public records about members of Congress and candidates for federal office. That information comes from public sources such as Congress.gov, the Federal Election Commission, X (Twitter), Bluesky, and state election officials. It is about public figures acting in their public roles and is not information about you.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address and preferences for as long as you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you immediately and remove your address from active lists. A suppression record of the address is retained so that we do not accidentally email you again. If you ask us to delete your data entirely, we will do so within 30 days, except for that suppression record if you request it or the law requires it.
Anonymous usage counts are kept indefinitely because they do not identify anyone.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe with the link in any email. It takes effect immediately.
- Change what you receive by unsubscribing and resubscribing with new choices, or by emailing us.
- Access, correct, or delete your information by emailing privacy@whosmyrep.org from the address in question. We will respond within 30 days and will not discriminate against you for making a request.
Residents of California, Texas, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and other states with privacy laws may have additional rights under those laws. Because we collect so little, we honor the same requests from everyone regardless of where you live. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising as those terms are defined in those laws.
Security
Subscriber data is stored with providers that encrypt it at rest and in transit, and any working copies are kept on encrypted company devices. Access is limited to the people who run the project, all of whom use multi-factor authentication. Confirmation and unsubscribe links are signed so they cannot be forged. No system is perfectly secure, and if we learn of a breach that affects your information we will notify you as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, for subscribers, note the change in the next newsletter. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
